The Junkluggers Pricing: How It Works and When You Learn the Price

How The Junkluggers works out what to charge, when you find out the number, and whether the estimate is binding — straight from their own pricing page.

The Junkluggers does not publish a price list, and that is not evasiveness — it follows from how they charge. Here is the model, described on their own pricing page.

The truck is divided into minimum load, quarter, half, three-quarter and full, and you pay for the fraction you use.

A standard truck runs about 12 feet by 8 feet by 4 feet, which they compare to a 16-cubic-yard dumpster.

Labour, loading, hauling and disposal are included in the quoted figure.

What this means for you

A volume price is fair — you pay for the space you use, not a flat fee that punishes small loads. The catch is timing: you book a visit, wait for the window, and only then hear the number. If it is higher than you hoped, you have already spent the morning on it.

Getting the price first instead

On JunkerClub the order is reversed. You post the job with a photo, local pros bid on it, and you compare real prices before anyone is dispatched. Pick the one you want and pay your pro directly — there is no platform markup on top.

So what does the job actually cost?

That is the question a volume price cannot answer until someone is standing in your driveway. These are the ranges we publish for the most common jobs — the middle column is what the market charges, the right-hand column is what jobs of that size have been going for through JunkerClub.

JobTypical market priceJunkerClub estimate
Couch or sofa (single item)$110 – $190$90 – $160
Single mattress$120 – $180$95 – $150
Flat-screen TV (up to 42")$85 – $140$70 – $115
Washer, dryer or dishwasher$110 – $170$90 – $140
Quarter truck load$180 – $280$150 – $230
Studio or one bedroom$350 – $550$280 – $450
Small remodel (bath or single room)$300 – $500$240 – $410
Small tub, easy access$380 – $550$300 – $450

Ranges, not quotes. What you pay depends on how much there is, how easy it is to reach, and what the pro bids.

What the same job actually costs when companies bid in the open

None of the three companies above publishes a price, so nobody can quote you theirs without a visit. Here is the other side of that: real jobs posted on JunkerClub, and every bid local companies sent back. These are our own figures, not estimates collected from elsewhere.

JobBidsLowestMedianHighestSpread
Furniture Removal — Rockville, MD12$225$525$1,2505.6×
Mattresses & Beds Removal — Los Angeles, CA4$800$883$9201.2×

That is 16 bids so far, and the ledger is small on purpose — every figure here is a real quote from a real company on a real job, not a survey.

The furniture job is the one worth staring at: the highest bid was more than five times the lowest, on the same items, in the same city, in the same week. A customer who books one on-site estimate sees a single point on that line and has no way of knowing which one. The mattress job went the other way — four bids inside 15% of each other. Neither pattern is a rule, which is exactly why seeing the spread beats guessing at it.

Bid figures verified 2026-09-04. Company names are withheld — a bid is the pricing of the company that sent it, and it is not ours to publish.

FAQ

Junk removal pricing — common questions

How does The Junkluggers price its service?

Volume — the fraction of the truck your items fill.

When do I find out what The Junkluggers will charge?

A general range by phone, then a precise written estimate once the crew arrives and measures the load.

Is the The Junkluggers estimate binding?

The written on-site estimate is a cap — they state you will never pay more than the estimate you were given.

Does The Junkluggers publish prices online?

No. There is no published rate card — the figure depends on the volume your items fill.

Is The Junkluggers expensive?

There is no honest way to answer that from their side, because no figure is published until a crew has seen the load. What can be answered is the market: most single-item pickups land between $80 and $200, and a full truck between $350 and $780 depending on what is in it. If a quote sits far above that, the useful move is a second quote rather than an argument.

How much does junk removal cost for a single item?

A single sofa is typically $110 to $190 and a single mattress $120 to $180 at market rates; a flat-screen television runs $85 to $140. Volume pricing means one bulky item costs less than the minimum truck fraction only when a crew is already on your street, which is why the same item can be quoted very differently on different days.

Can I get a junk removal price without an on-site estimate?

Yes, but not from the national chains — their firm number comes after a visit. Posting the job with a photo gets written quotes from local companies before anyone is dispatched, which is the whole reason this site exists.

How much do quotes for the same job actually differ?

More than most people expect. On one furniture removal job posted here, twelve companies bid between $225 and $1,250 — the highest was over five times the lowest, for the same items in the same week. A mattress job in Los Angeles went the other way, with four bids inside 15% of each other. Nobody can tell in advance which kind of job they have, which is the argument for seeing more than one number.

What will a junk removal crew refuse to take?

The refusals are consistent across companies: paint and solvents, motor oil, fuel, pesticides, propane tanks, car batteries, asbestos and medical waste. Almost every county runs a free household hazardous waste drop-off for exactly these, so setting them aside before the crew arrives saves time on the day and keeps them off the quote.

Does the price change for stairs or a long carry?

Yes, and it is the single most common reason a quote moves after someone arrives. Volume decides the base figure, but access decides the labour: a third-floor walk-up and a driveway loadout of identical items are not the same job. Saying where the items sit when you post avoids the surprise.
