Renovation debris is heavy in a way household junk is not. A bathroom strip-out in Phoenix, AZ produces a pile that looks small and weighs more than a truckload of furniture.
That weight is the whole story: drywall, tile, concrete and timber are charged by the ton at the transfer station, so debris is priced differently from everything else on this site.

Construction Debris Removal in Phoenix: what actually moves the price
60% of Phoenix homes are detached houses, so debris removal here is usually a straight drive-up: the truck reaches the driveway and the load never sees a staircase. That is the cheap end of the range on this page.
The median Phoenix home dates to 1984. Housing of that vintage sets the practical limits on debris removal — doorway widths, stair turns and whether there is a basement in the picture at all.
Spread out as Phoenix is, two pros can quote the same debris removal job very differently for no reason other than where their truck started the morning.

Construction Debris Removal in Phoenix: where the city stops and a hauler starts
The free route in Phoenix has hard edges, and they are the reason people end up paying: Four collection opportunities a year, and a single pile no larger than ten cubic yards per residence. Included with regular trash service at no extra charge. Ten cubic yards per residence per appointment, and the piles of two households may not be combined — each address has to book its own.
Past those limits the city is not an option at all — not slower, not pricier, simply unavailable. That is the line a hauler exists for, and it is worth knowing exactly where it sits before you start carrying anything.
Collection in Phoenix is run by City of Phoenix Public Works Department. Below is what they will take, straight from their own rules — and where each route runs out.
Booked bulky pickup
All bulk trash. Phoenix moved to appointments, so nothing goes out without one being booked first. Four collection opportunities a year, and a single pile no larger than ten cubic yards per residence. Included with regular trash service at no extra charge. Book online or on 602-262-6251, as late as three business days ahead. Cancelling at least two business days early keeps the slot off your yearly count; cancelling later does not. The pile goes within five feet of the street or the front edge of the property, at least five feet clear of any fixed object, and must be in place by 5:30 a.m. on the appointment date. Putting it out more than seven days ahead of the appointment is a violation of city ordinance. The scheduler blocks Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day plus the seven days after each.

Taking it yourself
The public drop-off is the 27th Avenue and North Gateway transfer stations. Free up to one ton a calendar month for City of Phoenix residential solid waste customers, on production of the water bill and a photo ID. Past a ton — and on certain items — the published disposal fees start. Monday to Friday, 5:30 am to 5 pm. Saturday, 6 am to 3 pm. Closed Sunday. The two sites are 3060 S. 27th Ave and 30205 N. Black Canyon Hwy. Your City of Phoenix city services bill — the water bill — and a photo ID, shown at the scale house. That is what proves you are a residential solid waste customer, and it is what the free ton is measured against. Whatever you drive, the load has to be secured from the moment you leave home, and you do not uncover it before entering the facility. An unsecured load is a $20 penalty on top of the disposal charge. One ton per calendar month at no charge. A deposit is required once the vehicle and any trailer together pass 6,000 pounds, or 9,000 pounds if you have your water bill with you; residential deposits usually run $65 to $180, and the scale house takes deposits in cash only. Regulated hazardous waste, PCBs, radioactive and infectious waste, commercial quantities of liquids, and anything classed as special waste under Arizona statute. Household hazardous waste has its own city programme rather than the scale house.

What the regular cart will not take
Not collected: loose debris and ordinary household trash, loose grass and clippings, household hazardous waste, materials in Bagster bags, more than two wooden pallets, bricks, concrete, dirt, rocks, asphalt and roofing shingles or tiles, and construction or demolition material over 25 pounds. Tree trimmings have to be under twelve inches thick and four feet long, and grass, leaves and clippings bagged and tied.

Weight, not volume
Most junk removal is priced by the space it takes up. Construction debris is priced by what it weighs, because disposal facilities charge by the ton and a half-full truck of tile can hit the limit before the truck looks full. If your load is mostly masonry, expect the quote to reflect tonnage rather than how it looks in a photo.
Skip hire versus a hauling crew
A skip makes sense when the work runs for weeks and you fill it gradually. For a finished job it is usually the more expensive route once you add the permit, the driveway time and the days it sits there. A crew that loads and leaves in an afternoon avoids all three — which is why single-day quotes often beat skip hire outright.

Construction Debris Removal in Phoenix — common questions
How much does debris removal cost in Phoenix?
Most people pay $280–$600. That is a national range for debris removal, not a quote — your real price comes from local pros bidding on your photos, and it moves with volume, stairs and how far the item has to travel to the truck.
Is a skip cheaper than hiring a crew in Phoenix?
For a long project, often yes. For a job that is already finished, usually not — once the permit, the delivery, the collection and the driveway days are counted, a crew that clears it in one afternoon frequently comes in lower. Get both numbers before you decide.
Will they take concrete, tile and drywall?
Yes, though heavy masonry is quoted by weight and sometimes needs a dedicated load. Say what the material is when you post the job — "one room of tile" produces a far more accurate quote than "some renovation waste".
What about asbestos or treated material?
That is abatement work, not junk removal, and a licensed contractor has to handle it. Anything from a property built before the 1980s is worth testing first. A reputable crew will decline suspect material rather than load it, and that is the right answer.
How quickly can it be picked up?
It depends on how many pros cover your area. On our first jobs the first quote arrived within one to three days, and we email you the moment one comes in. Once you pick a pro you choose the date and time window; same-day or next-day pickup is possible when a crew has room on the truck.
What does JunkerClub charge me?
Nothing. Posting a job and collecting quotes is free, and you pay your pro directly when the work is done. The pro pays the platform a small fee only when they win the job — it never gets added to your price.
Do I have to carry it outside myself in Phoenix?
No — the crew does the lifting and loading, and that labour is most of what you are paying for. In Phoenix 60% of homes are detached, so most jobs are a driveway carry and the truck can usually get close to the door. The median home here was built around 1984, so doorways and stairs are usually the wider post-war sizes. Say which floor it is on and whether there is a lift when you post the job; that is the part that moves the quote. Housing figures are from the U.S. Census Bureau.
What makes a junk removal quote in Phoenix different from the national average?
Access and housing type, mostly. In Phoenix, 60% of homes are detached and the city runs at about 3,228 residents per square mile — most homes here have a driveway a truck can reach, which usually keeps a job at the simpler end. Renters occupy 43% of occupied homes here, which also shapes when the work happens. The prices on this site are national ranges; the number you actually pay comes from local pros bidding on your photos. Housing figures are from the U.S. Census Bureau.
