Most jobs in Columbus, OH do not fit a neat category. It is a garage corner, a spare room, the pile that built up behind the house — a bit of furniture, a few bags, something broken nobody got around to moving.
Mixed loads are priced the same way as everything else here: by how much of the truck they fill. You do not need to identify every item to get an accurate quote, you need a photo.
Trash & Junk Hauling in Columbus: what actually moves the price
Detached houses make up 45% of the stock in Columbus. For junk hauling that generally means kerbside or garage access, which is the version of the job local pros price lowest.
The median Columbus home dates to 1980. Housing of that vintage sets the practical limits on junk hauling — doorway widths, stair turns and whether there is a basement in the picture at all.
56% of occupied homes in Columbus are rented, and month-end is when that shows: junk hauling bookings cluster around move-out weekends, so a midweek slot is usually the cheaper one.

Trash & Junk Hauling in Columbus: where the city stops and a hauler starts
The free route in Columbus has hard edges, and they are the reason people end up paying: No yearly cap is published. What the city does publish is what counts as bulk: furniture, carpet, mattresses, and appliances that have no refrigerant in them. Free for city refuse customers.
Past those limits the city is not an option at all — not slower, not pricier, simply unavailable. That is the line a hauler exists for, and it is worth knowing exactly where it sits before you start carrying anything.
Collection in Columbus is run by City of Columbus Refuse Collection. Below is what they will take, straight from their own rules — and where each route runs out.
Booked bulky pickup
Every bulk item. Nothing is collected unless the collection has been booked first — the city says so in as many words. No yearly cap is published. What the city does publish is what counts as bulk: furniture, carpet, mattresses, and appliances that have no refrigerant in them. Free for city refuse customers. Book through 311 at 311.columbus.gov or on (614) 645-3111. The pickup then happens on the specially scheduled day, not on your regular trash day. Curbside households put the items in front of the house clear of obstructions; alley households put them on the property edge at the alley line. Carpet is rolled into a bundle four feet long and two feet across and tied with rope, furniture is left assembled, and glass has to be taped — and clearing any glass residue left on the ground is the resident's job. Bags, boxes, storage tubs, luggage and open containers of trash are not bulk: they go inside the refuse container, and containers left out with the pile are treated as discarded. Items put out because of an eviction, set-out or foreclosure are not collected. Not taken at all: hazardous, flammable or explosive material, auto parts and tires, excavating and building material, anything with refrigerant (refrigerators, freezers, dehumidifiers, heat pumps, water coolers, air conditioners), furnaces, pianos, spas, hot tubs and pool tables — for those the city tells residents to call a private hauler.

How volume pricing works
Pros quote in fractions of a truck — an eighth, a quarter, a half, a full load. A full truck is roughly the contents of a small garage or four pickup beds. Because the truck is the unit, a photo of the pile gets you a far better quote than any list, and it is why every job on this site starts with one.
What cannot go on the truck
The refusals are consistent everywhere: paint and solvents, motor oil, fuel, pesticides, propane tanks, car batteries, asbestos and medical waste. Nearly every county runs a free household hazardous waste drop-off for exactly these. Set them aside first so the crew is not sorting your driveway.

Trash & Junk Hauling in Columbus — common questions
How much does junk hauling cost in Columbus?
Most people pay $150–$500. That is a national range for junk hauling, not a quote — your real price comes from local pros bidding on your photos, and it moves with volume, stairs and how far the item has to travel to the truck.
How do I know how big my load is?
You do not have to work it out. Post a photo of the pile and the pros tell you — that is what they do all day, and a picture removes the guesswork on both sides. If quotes come back with a wide spread, it usually means the photo did not show the whole pile.
Do I need to carry things outside first?
No. Full-service means the crew does the carrying, from wherever the items are. Moving things to the driveway yourself can shave a little off the quote, but nobody expects it and it is not worth hurting yourself over.
Is anything recycled or donated?
A good share of most loads. Metal goes to scrap, green waste to compost, and usable furniture and household goods to donation — pros generally run those drops as part of the route because it is cheaper for them than tipping fees.
How quickly can it be picked up?
It depends on how many pros cover your area. On our first jobs the first quote arrived within one to three days, and we email you the moment one comes in. Once you pick a pro you choose the date and time window; same-day or next-day pickup is possible when a crew has room on the truck.
What does JunkerClub charge me?
Nothing. Posting a job and collecting quotes is free, and you pay your pro directly when the work is done. The pro pays the platform a small fee only when they win the job — it never gets added to your price.
Do I have to carry it outside myself in Columbus?
No — the crew does the lifting and loading, and that labour is most of what you are paying for. In Columbus 45% of homes are detached, so most jobs are a driveway carry and the truck can usually get close to the door. The median home here was built around 1980, so doorways and stairs are usually the wider post-war sizes. Say which floor it is on and whether there is a lift when you post the job; that is the part that moves the quote. Housing figures are from the U.S. Census Bureau.
What makes a junk removal quote in Columbus different from the national average?
Access and housing type, mostly. In Columbus, 45% of homes are detached and the city runs at about 4,228 residents per square mile — most homes here have a driveway a truck can reach, which usually keeps a job at the simpler end. Renters occupy 56% of occupied homes here, which also shapes when the work happens. The prices on this site are national ranges; the number you actually pay comes from local pros bidding on your photos. Housing figures are from the U.S. Census Bureau.
