Trying to get rid of an old mattress in Miami, FL? You are not alone — mattresses are one of the hardest household items to dispose of properly.
Most municipal trash services will not take a mattress from the curb because of bulk rules, and leaving one out can bring a fine.

Mattress Disposal in Miami: what actually moves the price
Because only 23% of Miami homes are detached, most mattress disposal jobs here start indoors — a hallway, a lift, a booked loading window. Say which of those applies and the bids you get back will be firm ones.
With renters in 69% of Miami homes, a lot of mattress disposal here happens on a deadline. If yours does not, saying you are flexible on the day is worth more than any haggling.
At roughly 13,530 residents per square mile, Miami keeps trucks busy on short routes. That density is why mattress disposal quotes here tend to cluster: pros are competing on the same streets on the same day.

Mattress Disposal in Miami: where the city stops and a hauler starts
The free route in Miami has hard edges, and they are the reason people end up paying: Everything has to be securely tied in bundles, no more than three feet long and no more than fifty pounds each.
Past those limits the city is not an option at all — not slower, not pricier, simply unavailable. That is the line a hauler exists for, and it is worth knowing exactly where it sits before you start carrying anything.
Collection in Miami is run by City of Miami Department of Solid Waste. Below is what they will take, straight from their own rules — and where each route runs out.
Is there a free state recycling program?
Not in Florida. Four states — California, Connecticut, Oregon and Rhode Island — fund mattress recycling with a fee collected when a new mattress is sold, which makes drop-off free there. There is no equivalent here, so the city routes above are the free options.
Taking it yourself
The public drop-off is City of Miami Mini Dump Facility. No residential charge is published. What qualifies you is the door: one proof of City of Miami residency (a Florida driver's licence or ID, three months of utility statements, a rental agreement or a tax bill) and a maximum of one trip a day, each trip no bigger than a pickup truck load. Vehicles with commercial markings, dump or panel trucks, commercial trucks and vans, and material from commercial contractors are all turned away. Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday 8 a.m. to noon. Closed Sundays, Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Christmas Day.

Why mattress removal costs what it does
Landfill disposal fees keep climbing, and a mattress needs a truck plus at least one pair of hands. Prices still vary a lot between companies, which is exactly why comparing quotes is worth the five minutes.
What changes the price
Size matters — a king costs more to haul than a twin — and so does access. A mattress coming down three flights without an elevator takes longer than one waiting in the driveway.

Mattress Disposal in Miami — common questions
How much does mattress disposal cost in Miami?
Most people pay $95–$150. That is a national range for mattress disposal, not a quote — your real price comes from local pros bidding on your photos, and it moves with volume, stairs and how far the item has to travel to the truck.
Can I put a mattress out with the trash in Miami?
Most municipal services will not take one from the curb under their bulk rules, and an abandoned mattress can bring a fine. Some cities run a paid bulk pickup you have to book weeks ahead; a scheduled removal is normally faster.
Does a king mattress cost more than a twin?
Yes. Size drives both truck space and how many people it takes to move it, so a king sits at the top of the range and a twin near the bottom. A box spring counts as a second item with most pros.
Are mattresses actually recycled?
Often, yes. Steel springs, foam and timber can all be separated and reused, and some states run dedicated mattress recycling programs. Pros take them to a recycler where one is within reach rather than straight to landfill.
How quickly can it be picked up?
It depends on how many pros cover your area. On our first jobs the first quote arrived within one to three days, and we email you the moment one comes in. Once you pick a pro you choose the date and time window; same-day or next-day pickup is possible when a crew has room on the truck.
What does JunkerClub charge me?
Nothing. Posting a job and collecting quotes is free, and you pay your pro directly when the work is done. The pro pays the platform a small fee only when they win the job — it never gets added to your price.
Do I have to carry it outside myself in Miami?
No — the crew does the lifting and loading, and that labour is most of what you are paying for. In Miami about 68% of homes sit in multi-unit buildings, so the corridor, the lift and the walk to the kerb are usually longer than the carry inside the unit itself. The median home here was built around 1978, so doorways and stairs are usually the wider post-war sizes. Say which floor it is on and whether there is a lift when you post the job; that is the part that moves the quote. Housing figures are from the U.S. Census Bureau.
What makes a junk removal quote in Miami different from the national average?
Access and housing type, mostly. In Miami, 23% of homes are detached and the city runs at about 13,530 residents per square mile — most homes here are in buildings of five units or more, so a crew is pricing the corridor, the lift and the carry to the truck as much as the item. Renters occupy 69% of occupied homes here, which also shapes when the work happens. The prices on this site are national ranges; the number you actually pay comes from local pros bidding on your photos. Housing figures are from the U.S. Census Bureau.
