Furniture Removal Cost in Baltimore, MD

Most people pay $90–$300. Updated for 2026.

Whether you are downsizing, redecorating or clearing a room in Baltimore, MD, furniture is the category that defeats most people: too big for the car, too heavy for one person, too good to smash up.

A single armchair and a four-room houseful are the same job with different volumes, which is why furniture removal is quoted by how much of the truck you fill rather than per piece.

Furniture Removal in Baltimore: what actually moves the price

Baltimore is a row-house city — 65% of homes are single-family but only 15% stand detached. For furniture removal that means a straight staircase, a narrow front door and a party wall on at least one side. The stairs are the job.

52% of occupied homes in Baltimore are rented, and month-end is when that shows: furniture removal bookings cluster around move-out weekends, so a midweek slot is usually the cheaper one.

Baltimore runs at about 7,020 people per square mile. Dense service areas mean more pros within range of your address, and more bids is the mechanism that brings a furniture removal price down.

Furniture Removal in Baltimore: where the city stops and a hauler starts

The free route in Baltimore has hard edges, and they are the reason people end up paying: Up to three bulk items a month, on your address's scheduled Saturday.

Past those limits the city is not an option at all — not slower, not pricier, simply unavailable. That is the line a hauler exists for, and it is worth knowing exactly where it sits before you start carrying anything.

Collection in Baltimore is run by Baltimore City Department of Public Works. Below is what they will take, straight from their own rules — and where each route runs out.

Booked bulky pickup

Every bulk collection. The city runs it on one set Saturday a month for each address, and you have to be on that day's list. Up to three bulk items a month, on your address's scheduled Saturday. Call 311 or use 311 Online at least four working days before your Saturday, and give your address, your phone number and which three items you are putting out. Items must be clearly marked "bulk collection" and left in the same place as your regular trash; households with rear collection leave them at the end of the yard with the gate unlocked. They should be out by 7 a.m. on the day, with pets kept indoors. Taken: sofas, chairs and other furniture, mattresses and box springs, appliances, up to four tires with the rims removed, and anything else that will not fit in the trash can. Not taken: building material such as sheetrock, siding, wood pieces or roofing, auto parts, paint and stain, and flammable or hazardous waste.

The public drop-off is the city's Residential Drop-Off Centers. No cost for city residents dropping off trash or recycling.

One piece or a whole room?

For a single item, most pros charge a minimum that covers the trip — which is why two items rarely cost twice one. If you are clearing a room, group everything in one place before the crew arrives and you will usually drop into a lower volume bracket than if the pieces are scattered across three floors.

What changes the price

Access does most of it. A wardrobe on the ground floor beside a driveway is a two-minute carry; the same wardrobe on the third floor of a walk-up, through a tight turn, is a different job. Solid timber and stone-topped pieces are heavy enough to need two people regardless of where they sit.

FAQ

Furniture Removal in Baltimore — common questions

How much does furniture removal cost in Baltimore?

Most people pay $90–$300. That is a national range for furniture removal, not a quote — your real price comes from local pros bidding on your photos, and it moves with volume, stairs and how far the item has to travel to the truck.

Can my furniture be donated instead of dumped?

Often yes, and most pros run a donation drop as part of the route at no extra cost. The bar is condition: clean, structurally sound, no rips or pet odour. Point out what is worth saving when the crew arrives rather than assuming they will guess.

Do they take furniture apart?

Yes when it is needed to clear a doorway — beds, sectionals and flat-pack wardrobes usually come apart. It adds time rather than a separate fee, so it shows up in the quote as a slightly higher bracket rather than a line item.

Is one chair worth booking a pickup for?

The honest answer is that a single small item pays the trip minimum, so you get much better value adding whatever else you have been meaning to clear. Post a photo of everything and let the quotes tell you where the bracket falls.

How quickly can it be picked up?

It depends on how many pros cover your area. On our first jobs the first quote arrived within one to three days, and we email you the moment one comes in. Once you pick a pro you choose the date and time window; same-day or next-day pickup is possible when a crew has room on the truck.

What does JunkerClub charge me?

Nothing. Posting a job and collecting quotes is free, and you pay your pro directly when the work is done. The pro pays the platform a small fee only when they win the job — it never gets added to your price.

Do I have to carry it outside myself in Baltimore?

No — the crew does the lifting and loading, and that labour is most of what you are paying for. In Baltimore about 50% of homes are attached rather than detached, so a straight internal staircase and a narrow front door tend to set the limits instead of a driveway. The median home here dates to around 1948, and stairwells and doorways from those years tend to be narrower than a modern build — worth mentioning if the item is bulky. Say which floor it is on and whether there is a lift when you post the job; that is the part that moves the quote. Housing figures are from the U.S. Census Bureau.

What makes a junk removal quote in Baltimore different from the national average?

Access and housing type, mostly. In Baltimore, 15% of homes are detached and the city runs at about 7,020 residents per square mile — most homes here are attached rather than detached, so the front staircase and the doorway set the limits rather than a driveway. Renters occupy 52% of occupied homes here, which also shapes when the work happens. The prices on this site are national ranges; the number you actually pay comes from local pros bidding on your photos. Housing figures are from the U.S. Census Bureau.
